The attitudes, values, and behaviors that are displayed at their work culture is that of an air of self-motivation. The individual employee is held accountable for their own success or failure. Excuses are unacceptable. Their also seems to be a nonchalant attitude about their employees values. The attitudes and values of the subject were much in line with mine. The subject believes in receiving reward for hard work done and if you do not do the work you do not receive compensation. I did not like the fact that the subject refused to consider the cultural needs of the employee. I believe this may cause problems for them later on down the line. From this interview, what can give us insight into communicating across cultures or across work cultures?In my opinion communicating across cultures or work cultures takes a combined effort. Everyone in the company has to be open to the idea of using their talents which may have manifested due to elements from that individuals culture. Communication is not a one-sided instrument. In order for it to be effective the employer has to take steps to ensure that there are open lines of communication no matter what an employee’s background may be. In the end I believe that organizations only conform to the idea of culture because they are forced to.

Cell Phone Problem Solution

A serious problem has arisen that desperately needs to be solved. Students have been constantly using their cell phones during class and causing distractions to the learning environment. As a result, the principal is ready to ban all cell phones from school. Although this might solve the problem, it would alienate and irritate the student body. As it is, students are already distracted by cell phone misuse in the classroom.Teachers have found that their classrooms are becoming unruly and are having to take time out of instruction to write disciplinary forms. This results in added paperwork for administrators. Additionally, teachers are complaining to administrators about class disruptions. All the interruptions are detracting from students’ educational time; thus EOG scores my plummet along with school funding. With the lower test scores and tighter budget, the schools’ reputation may also suffer. If we want to keep our schools’ pride intact, we must solve this d ilemma.After pondering this complex problem I have devised an exemplary solution. I propose that the school’s leadership team organize a monthly incentive time in which students are able to talk and text on their cell phones. This incentive is designed to reward students for obeying the cell phone regulations. Students should be focused on their education and should not be using their cell phones during school hours (8:30am-4:00pm).To begin implementing this solution, the staff members should be notified first by sending an email or holding a staff meeting. Next, posters should be hung on each hallway to inform students about the upcoming cell phone incentive. Announcements can also be made to build excitement about the upcoming change in policy. Waivers would be sent home to notify parents that the cell phone rule has not changed; however to reward students for abiding by the rules, a cell phone incentive time is being integrated into the schedule on a monthly basis.These in centive times would be held on the first Wednesday of every month. Core classes would be shortened by 15 minutes each, allowing there to be a free hour at the end of the day. At the beginning of this time students should have five minutes to pack up and get their cell phones and report  back to their last class. Students who do not have cell phones are able to use this time to have study hall, play games, or socialize upon teacher’s discretion. These incentive times are the only allotted times to text, play games, listen to music, use the internet, or call others during school hours. Headphones must be used for all music and other audible activities. Phones must be set on vibrate to eliminate unneeded noise.Although the original cell phone rule has not changed, new consequences have been put in place. First time rule breakers will have their phone confiscated and sent to the office. Silent lunch will be given and they will lose the next incentive time and would be sent to I SS for the hour.For students who break the cell phone rule a second time, their phone will be confiscated and sent to the office. They will be put on cleaning duty with the custodians or cafeteria staff during the incentive time. These students would lose the next two incentive hours and receive a behavior slip. If these students still did not learn that their actions have consequences and break the rule for a third time their phone will be taken and sent to the office. That student would also receive a behavior slip. The students would miss the next three incentive times and clean during the hours. For fourth and habitual offenders, their phone will be taken and sent to the office. They would lose all future incentive hours and clean.This solution has a multitude of benefits; one such benefit is that it is cost and time efficient. Implementing the incentive time is inexpensive. The only cost incurred is the expense of the paper and ink used to print the waivers. It is important to be money-conscious because many school are facing budget cuts. Funds should be reserved for other important supplies and activities. Cost efficiency is not the only benefit; time efficiency is equally important.The incentive time only takes one hour away from class time each month. This allows ample time for less interrupted instruction. This solution also appeals to all parties. To administrators, education is paramount, and this solution applies to that. The more learning without distractions gets high scores for students and for the school. Those high scores may equate to county or state bonuses. Such money could be used for classroom upgrades. Teachers would appreciate the upgrades, but they will  also benefit from other aspects of this solution.The teachers would have more teaching time because they will be spending less time filling out disciplinary paperwork. So having more teaching time can lead to higher grades for students. This can allow teachers to move through subject s quicker. Also, with this solution, students will be less likely to sneak around with their phones because they will have a designated time to use them.This solution is much less severe than the principal’s initial solution, which was to ban all cell phones. In conclusion, the previously stated solution, which is to integrate a monthly incentive time into the school day, is an excellent solution to the cell phone predicament. This solution will solve the problem because it allows time for students to use their cell phones. Such will increase the amount of time on-task; more instructional time benefits all ages. Not only does it benefit all, it holds students accountable for their positive and negative decisions. Show your approval of this plan by passing this proposal onto the principal. However, many researchers believe that the quantitative approach is limited because it does not address the meaning of life experience in depth that qualitative research can. Barbour (2009) suggests that the qualitative method is more adequate in order for studies that are more interested for the effect of a problem on the individuals associated with it. In this project, because of the type of the aims and objectives of the proposed research we have adopted a qualitative approach for analyzing explaining our final data. By choosing a qualitative method for the data analysis, we will be able to provide a detailed in depth explanation of the experiences and responses (Burns Groves 2011) of nursing staff who work with patients who express violent behaviour. Selection of qualitative descriptive method The number of approaches exist within qualitative research are various; some of them focusing on cultural national or sociological effects (Burns Grove 2011). All these approaches can provide us with valuable results, however in our case another qualitative research approach is selected; this method is called qualitative descriptive approach. The goal of qualitative description is not detailed explanation of the problem in order to conclude in the formation of a sociological explanation of a phenomenon. Here we aim for a straight description phenomenon is desired. This means we are not going to move away from the original data (Sandelowski 2000). This data analysis approach can provide as with the advantage of a direct explanation initially and then understanding of the nursing staff responses behaviour. Sample / Population The term of population can be referred as the total number of elements in which data can be extracted from. A sample is a subset of a population selected to partake in a study (Polit Beck 2010) which will be a source of information (Clifford Clark 2004). Identification and determination of the population who is more appropriate for our data collection from is the initial step of our research. The sampling source should be appropriate to provide us with adequate related to our research data. The Qualitative descriptive method is based on the analysis of a large volume of information. For this reason our sample population source is going to be a limited small number of nursing staff. In this project, we are going to use a sample of 50 participants. We are aware of the limitations of small sampling sizes, however qualitative research is more concerned with the phenomenon of interest and not the applicability of the findings in other contexts. The inclusion and exclusion criteria for participants in the groups will be as follows: Inclusion Criteria à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Nursing staff that have face a violent incident in the past from a patient or from a member of his/her family. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ More than one year work experience within the nursing field. Exclusion criteria à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Agency staff working in the health care units at the time of the study. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Staff with less than one year of work experience. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Clinical nurse managers (as many times are responsible, directly or indirectly, for the violent behaviour). Data collection The data collection method should best suit the aims and objectives of the research. In our case the answers to our main research questions cannot be closed type answers. For this reason, we are going to work in a dialogue basis with the participants of the study. This, will provide us the required answers, open type answers about the experience and thoughts of nurses faced a violent incident in the past during the performance of their professional duties (Burns Grove 2011). Pilot study Procedure When the methodology has been developed, it is advisable to test it out before applying it to the actual sample. This procedure of testing it out is done by a means of a pilot study (Welman et al. 2005). According to Burns Grove (2011) a pilot study is simply a smaller version of the actual study done in preparation of a proposed study. Conducting a pilot study will authenticate the feasibility of conducting a larger scale study. This will help the research team to spot any problems with the research methodology and to refine and develop data collection instruments. For the proposed research a pilot study must be tested upon a smaller sample with a similar design as the actual study (10% of the final). A smaller focus group with only five nursing staff will be conducted by the researcher for the pilot study. The participants of the pilot study will not be permitted to participate in the main study. Depending on the outcomes of the pilot there maybe areas in the research methodology that the researcher may need to be modify. Data analysis According to Polit Beck (2010) data analysis is the systematic organisation and synthesis of research data. The analysis of data will take place in parallel with a data collection. The researcher intends to utilise qualitative content analysis. This is the ideal method for the analysis of qualitative description (Sandelowski 2000). Hsieh Shannon (2005) define qualitative content analysis as a research method for the subjective interpretation of the content of text data through the systematic classification process of coding and identifying themes or patterns. Inductive and deductive are the two methods of qualitative content analysis. The researcher will use the inductive approach because analysis is derived mostly from raw data. This approach will allow the researcher to immerse themselves in the data to allow new insight to emerge. Ethical Considerations Ethical issues are a central part of the research process (Burns Grove 2011). The principles underlying research are universal and concern issues such as honesty and respect for the rights of individuals in the study (Welman et al. 2005). In Ireland accountability when carrying out nursing research is specified by National Nursing Council (ENE) code of professional conduct for each nurse and midwife which states: In taking part in research, the principles of confidentiality and the provision of appropriate information to enable an informed judgment to be made by the patient must be safeguarded. The nurse has an obligation to ascertain that the research is sanctioned by the appropriate body and to ensure that the rights of the patient are protected at all times. The nurse should be aware of ethical policies and procedures in his/her area of practice. The right to self determination This ethical principal is based on respect for a persons autonomy (Burns Grove 2011). Participants in the research will be allowed to make a free and informed choice without coercion (Holloway Wheeler 2002). Potential participants will have the right to ask any questions concerning the study, refuse to give information and withdraw from the study at any stage. The right to Anonymity and confidentiality According to Barbour (2008) the need to preserve confidentiality and anonymity is an enshrined principle when undertaking qualitative research. Anonymity refers to the safest way of shielding confidentiality (Polit Beck 2010). Details such as names of the participants, location and residential care home names will be kept anonymous throughout the study and within the findings. Also we will ensure that identifying information is safely locked away. Passwords will be put in place to ensure that information in the form of computer software/data the data is not accessed by anyone else other than the members of the research team. Setting up these procedures will prevent any accidental breech of confidentiality (Polit Beck 2010). Proposed outcome of the study A report that will outline the research design together with the procedures applied for data collection and analysis will be written up at the end of the research process. A clear explanation of the findings and results will also be written up by the researcher. The researcher anticipates that the findings of the study will provide insight into the responses together with experiences of nursing staff when caring for patients with dementia who exhibit aggressive behaviours in Spartas health care units. The issues raised in this dialogue have been reinterpreted and extended to remain relevant even with a modern theological framework, so much so that the central issue is now known simply as ?the Euthyphro dilemma.? This is based on Socrates? two-way choice which he offers in the dialogue: "Consider this: Is the pious being loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is being loved by the gods?" (10a) In the context of the dialogue, this simply segues to a logical argument about the definition of piety, and the question is more or less rhetorical as Socrates asks it. Hitler knew how effective propaganda could be and conveyed that "propaganda for the masses had to be simple, it had to aim at the lowest level of intelligence, and it had to be reduced to easily learned slogans which then had to be repeated many times, concentrating on such emotional elements as love and hatred" (Welch, 3). In short, he had to circulate the kind of information that everyone would understand and remember. Today, people from the United States look at World War II with horror and disbelief, wondering just how could the Germans be so "brain washed" to agree that it was a good idea to kill off an entire culture? Many do not realize that Hitler's propaganda was so well thought out that his ideas had seeped into everything -- including American culture. Although, the United States fought against the Nazi ideals, there were subtle ways that German ideas affected American society. A prime example of Hitler's propaganda that leaked into American society is the sample of anti-Semitic verse, simply titled "To the Tune of the Marine Hymn." This passage was circulated widely between civilians and soldiers in the United States during World War II and is sung to the tune of the Marine Hymn. It brilliantly plays on the stereotypes of the Jewish culture that were accepted by many as a reality. By setting the passage to the tune of the Marine Hymn, this piece of propaganda gives American men a sense of nationalism, as well as a very familiar and catchy tune that will stay in their minds. The well-known melody helps to downplay the intolerance of Jews in the lyrics and it is easy for many people who are not paying attention to miss the stereotypes that are played out. Instead, there is almost a sense of comedy or a softening of the evil intentions of the appalling lyrics. The lyrics of the song are ideas that were commonplace to the American population during the time of World War II.
